Guest Soloists Previous Years
Mary
Lott, Oboe November 2, 2003
A graduate of
California State University at Northridge, Ms. Lott has been a resident
in the Willamette Valley for over 20 years. While in Los Angeles,
she studied with Salvetore Spano and John Ellis, playing at that
time with NBC studio orchestras.
While teaching privately over the last two decades, she has had
the opportunity to study with John Mack, Thomas Stacey, Ray Still,
Alex Klein and Joseph Robinson on oboe, English horn and oboe d’amour.
Each session there has been growth in teaching styles for her own
students and new experiences in interpretation and techniques.
Ms. Lott has been an associate professor at Willamette University
during that entire journey. The summers of 1997-2000 she was on
the faculty for Young Musicians and Artists, sharing ideas and experiences
with upcoming new musicians. One of her primary delights is teaching
young students the uniqueness of the oboe and the music that is
written for it.
Ms. Lott has performed as a soloist and an ensemble player with
the Oregon Coast Music Festival, the Cascade Music Festival, the
Willamette Faculty Woodwind Quintet, the Oregon Symphony and recently
retired from her position of principal with the Salem Chamber Orchestra.
